Kim Elliot, Ph.D. is a National Board-Certified Teacher at Health Science High and Middle College (HSHMC) in San Diego, California. She has experience teaching secondary science, supervising teacher candidates, leading Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and providing targeted coaching for teachers of all content areas. Kim is a proud member of HSHMC’s science PLC, which won the Shirley Hord Teacher Learning Team Award in 2019 for the impact of their implementation of literacy strategies in science. Additionally, she enjoys providing professional development on the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR), Teacher Clarity, Visible Learning, and literacy across all subject areas. Kim is passionate about teaching and learning and is driven by Fisher, Frey, and Hattie’s (2016) assertion: “Every student deserves a great teacher, not by chance, but by design”.
