Benjie Howard is the co-founder and executive director of New Wilderness Project, which focuses on outdoor education programs and the development of youth leadership for equity, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Currently, he works as a Deep Equity consultant with Corwin Press. Benjie is a river guide and wilderness educator on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon where he has designed and led educational expeditions for teachers, leaders, and youth since 1995. As a co-architect of Youth Equity Stewardship (YES!), he has played a significant role in creating inclusive educational spaces and promoting community transformation. In addition to his work in education, Benjie is an accomplished touring singer-songwriter with four albums to his credit, including the collaborative 2015 release BORDERLESS with Wade Colwell-Sandoval.
