Virtual Sessions

Leadership Series (3) 2-hour sessions and (8) 90- minute sessions

Courageous leadership is the key to successful and sustained implementation of the Deep Equity systemic change process. This workshop series, which is delivered over 3 non-consecutive days, is designed to support school leaders and central office administrators in their work of maximizing the district’s investment in Deep Equity professional development. The series is facilitated by Deep Equity Senior Consultants, who in their own careers have demonstrated expertise in leading systemic Equity change efforts at both the building and district levels. The central focus for the series is on Phase Five of the Deep Equity process: Systemic Transformation and Planning for Change.

Teaching and Leading for Inclusion, Equity and Excellence 2-hour sessions

Benjie Howard and Nicole Law provide a conceptual framework to guide leaders and teachers in their efforts to create a sustainable and systemic approach to educational equity. They describe the Five Phases and the Seven Principles of Culturally Responsive Teaching in the Deep Equity work. They invite participants to share their own best practices and challenges related to equity. In this interactive session, Benjie and Nicole demonstrate several of the professional development strategies that the Deep Equity team use in their work around the country, strategies that participants can take back to their own schools.

Youth Equity Stewardship: For Learning Communities Navigating an Inter-generational Equity Journey 2-hour sessions

Learn from founders Benjie Howard and Wade Antonio Colwell about Youth Equity Stewardship (YES!), a sustainable, inter-generational, creative facilitation process for youth and adults that enables learning communities to enthusiastically engage and advocate for culturally responsive teaching and leading practices. YES! is rooted in arts-based methods that aim to elevate youth vision and passion to the forefront of policy and progress for an evolving twenty-first century school system. They will demonstrate how the process amplifies student partnership and supports young people in understanding their personal journey and social accountability through a "stewardship" lens that creates a living example of commitment to inclusion, equity, and a new frame for educational excellence.

Deep Equity: CRT Deep Dive Series (9) 2-hour sessions

** Exclusively offered to clients who have completed Deep Equity Year 1

Culturally responsive educators teach and lead in such a way that more students, across more of their differences, achieve and engage at higher and deeper levels, without giving up who they are. Building on the Deep Equity Process sessions, the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) Deep Dive provides participants with opportunities to apply research-based CRT practices to positively impact learning outcomes for all students. Utilizing an affirmational approach, educators will identify alignments between current district initiatives and the CRT Principles. The Deep Equity model of the Achievement Triangle will guide equity educators in deepening knowledge of self, students and practice on their path towards being equity champions that utilize CRT towards greater student engagement. This workshop series, which is delivered over 3 non-consecutive days, is grounded in the research that culturally responsive teaching is more than a checklist of strategies, but also about the ways the educators teach to deepen student engagement and elevate learning capacity.
