The Governor and Legislature of California have now approved a $6.6 billion legislative package to address issues of in-person instruction and expanded learning opportunities. School districts are required to adopt their plans for the use of these state funds by June 1, 2021.
In support of California K-12 school and district leaders, Corwin and the Professional Learning Coalition are providing a free Zoom webinar to review the key provisions of the Expanded Learning Opportunity Grants and how they can be implemented to have the greatest impact on improving student well-being and academic performance. Peter Birdsall, executive director of the Professional Learning Coalition and former executive director of California’s County Superintendents Association, will review the Expanded Learning Opportunity Grant program and the challenges of building coherence from separate federal and state funding sources. Douglas Fisher, a recognized expert, author and practitioner on accelerated learning, will discuss current research and the highest impact ideas and practices from local education leaders around the country.
