During this crisis, we have a new perspective on our priorities. The safety and wellbeing of the students in this competition are at the forefront of our minds for the county bee. We recognize the importance of the spelling bee and the long-term benefits it provides for participating students. With that in mind, we are hosting an online spelling bee to determine which speller will represent Ventura County and their school at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. This new platform ensures that we can host our competition and name a champion under any foreseeable circumstance.

As many of you know, the 2020 SAGE Ventura County Spelling Bee (and the Scripps National Spelling Bee) was cancelled. Although we do not want a repeat of this unfortunate, but necessary situation, SAGE reserves the right to cancel the county bee should they determine the event to be inadvisable or unfeasible for any reason.
