This is an excellent resource for teaching learners with mathematical difficulties. I find it a very helpful resource for the children I work with as senco/specialist teacher and in my role as lecturer on the MA dyslexia course. The book sets out clear explanations and resources to build from the foundations of mathematics.
Very useful for the SLD module of the add dip.
An informative text to support children with dyscalculia or children that struggle with maths. A wide range of targeted supportive mathematical games are offered which build confidence in number skills.
Very useful - recommend it regularly to staff in school as well as PGCE students
This book is very useful and full of lots of practical advice, ideas and games for helping students with dyscalculia. A really useful book.
This text provides some useful information for students working with children who have additional support needs or who have challenges in their understanding of number processes.
A fabulous book with lots of ideas and activities for fostering numerosity and mathematical skills in general. Although the recommended ages are 9-16 I have very successfully used many of the activities with FE students.
An invaluable and informative book , which addresses a curent research focus on children with maths difficulties. This book offers practical suggestions for the enquiring student and busy teacher .
Excellent and easy to understand strategies for helping learners who struggle with maths. This books enables teachers to support their learners using number skills in any area. These strategies are a must for a teachers tool box.
This is an accessible book or the busy practitioner looking for solutions and strategies to use with low level achievers in maths / numeracy. Firstly I like the format. A4 size allows for a better layout and plenty of "white space" in the uncluttered presentation.
This book is highly practical and the examples provided are user friendly and a good resource for counselling students in my class. The book enable me as a lecturer to recommend practical activities provided in the book and its a good resource for teachers and counsellors in schools.
This book is particularly helpful in identifiying, naming and providing examples of the progressive steps in numeracy.
I work with some lower level students who Im sure will benefit from this book. There are lots of activities that will be very useful
Really delighted with this book. Such clear and in depth unpicking of aspects of number in very clear sections. Good background on dyscalculia etc too. Slightly annoyed by repeated refs to another text, the 'Dyscalulia Toolkit'.
useful to help trainees in understanding how to teach common misconceptions in number
As a home tutor as well I have some students having difficulty with maths - this has helped and I have recommended to parents so they can understand the difficulties their child is having. I have also recommended it to some of my students who are teaching numeracy.
This is a very useful publication, with plenty of practical ideas for use in the classroom and one-to-one. The CD-ROM enables the user to download templates for a wide range of games and activities, saving time and effort. The maths difficulties are explained briefly at the beginning of each chapter and progression is logical and clearly set out. This is a most useful tool for anyone supporting pupils who have difficulties with mathematics.
