Leading for Equity: The Fierce Urgency of Now

Join us for a roundtable discussion with a diverse group of district and building leaders from the East, the Midwest, and the West Coast, who have been doing difficult and courageous work laying equity foundations in their communities that allow them to meet the fierce urgency and the critical challenges of our time in history. We will discuss the strategies they’ve employed and struggles they’ve experienced in their districts, and then break into small groups to share ideas on making school work in a time of a global pandemic, expanding inequities, and redefined learning spaces.

We know there is no one-size-fits-all solution or a superintendent or principal with all the answers, but this is a chance to hear from really good leaders, doing really hard and humbling work in very different parts of the country.

Breakout Groups:
• Leading New Equity Initiatives: formulating strategy, navigating politics, gaining community buy-in
• Sustaining Ongoing Equity Work: the realities of leading a diverse, high-poverty district; shifting from checking boxes to sustained engagement
• Building Leaders: youth engagement, handling social media incidents, distance learning
• Deep Equity Clients: collaborate and network with other leaders engaged in the Deep Equity model
