The Assessment of Learning from a Distance Institute explores the role of assessment as it pertains to the landscape of distance learning. Led by authors of The Assessment Playbook in Distance & Blended Learning, this institute will explore new tools and formats that teachers can use to assess students’ understanding. These new ways of assessing learning will impact schooling for years to come as they are better and more authentic than many of the tools we had been using before the pandemic.

The PLC+ Certification is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and techniques needed to support delivery of PLC+ professional learning in their schools. As a result of PLC+ certification, participants will be prepared to support and lead teams in engaging in collegial inquiry where members share knowledge, observe one another, analyze evidence of student learning, and capitalize and celebrate the collective expertise that exists with the team.

All new content of the BEST distance & blended learning strategies in education! Distance learning and its variants—blended, hybrid, and simultaneous—have been disruptive to schooling as we have known it. But amazing educators are turning disruption into innovation. The rate of innovation in schooling is unprecedented and this series focuses on highlighting new practices of creative teachers, coaches, and leaders.

Part of a six-session series, this institute will explore Coaching Instructional Improvement.

What types of feedback help teachers change and implement increasingly effective approaches to instruction and assessment? What times of coaching are ineffective? We’ll review several coaching frameworks and practice analyzing instruction and developing coaching plans.

Part of a six-session series, this institute will explore Supporting Parents to Support Learners. 

We are not asking parents to become teachers. But we do need to forge a new partnership with family members such that their children are learning. We’ll focus on effective parent education that builds the knowledge and skill of family members to support the efforts of the teachers who provide instruction for their children.

The Assessment of Learning from a Distance Institute provides ample strategies that address the questions: “how can I engage in quality assessment of student learning from a distance?” and “how can we leverage our experiences in distance learning to enhance assessment in any setting?” Unfortunately, not all assessments that were used in a traditional learning environment can work in a distance and blended learning environment, so this workshop outlines what assessments CAN work in any setting.

The Visible Learning+ Making Learning Visible: Equity Pathway places an emphasis on creating an equitable culture for all students. This pathway focuses on how we can create communities that work together through a collectivist lens of shared accountability with a laser-like focus on equity to convene around high expectations for learning across all dimensions of differences. 

Part of a six-session series, this institute will explore Developing Leadership Mindframes . 

The Mindframes for Leaders guide decisions that we make. They are habits that will serve us well, long after the pandemic. In this session we explore each of the 10 mindframes and learn from leaders who have challenged themselves to strengthen a specific mindframe. These mindframes, or ways of being, are based on the Visible Learning research.

This two-day certification is designed to equip you with the knowledge and techniques that will enable you deliver effective Success Criteria Playbook trainings in your school system.Must be employed by a School System, County Office of Education or Education Service Agency to participate.

The Visible Learning+ Making Learning Visible: Learning Pathway places emphasis student learning. This pathway focuses on the science of learning and the principles that can be implemented to amplify learning in my school or classroom.

Corwin’s  PLC+ Institute provides attendees with a practical and evidence-based framework to support collaborative structures to support planning and implementation of student learning, as well as professional learning (e.g. microteaching, classroom observations) of the teachers and teacher leaders.
