Based on Douglas Fisher, Nancy Frey, and John Hattie's title, The Distance Learning Playbook, this Institute, led by Vince Bustamante and Yana Ioffe, provides a clear plan for educators to be intentional and purposeful as we begin to re-open schools—whether that be physically or remotely. Building on key insights of the Visible Learning® research, attendees will explore the implementation of distance learning teaching practices that focus on credibility, creating learning experiences that are meaningful, and feedback that increases impact.

Part of a six-session series, this institute will explore Virtual Visibility and Social Presence. People notice where you put your body. Your presence communicates importance and value. How can you maximize your virtual visibility and social presence such that teachers, students, and family members “see” you? Learn from other leaders who have developed a strong presence in their schools, even from a distance.

Register for all six of the Distance Learning Leadership sessions that will cover the following topics: Maintaining Your Leadership Credibility (Apr 13),  Virtual Visibility and Social Presence (Apr 20), Microteaching (Apr 27), Coaching Instructional Improvement (May 4), Supporting Parents to Support Learners (May 11),  and Developing Leadership Mindframes (May 18). 

Part of a six-session series, this institute will explore Microteaching. Improving instruction and maximizing impact are primary responsibilities for school leaders. The question is, how can we spread highly effective approaches to teaching and learning around a school? One solution has been micro-teaching. In this session, we explore micro-teaching, allow for practice of this approach, and develop plans for using this tool to improve learning outcomes.

Part of a six-session series, this institute will explore questions such as: Do your teachers and staff trust you?  Do they see you as one who is supportive of their development?  Are you passionate about your role in the school system?  Lots of questions that all relate to your credibility as a leader.  Building on the evidence of teacher credibility, we will explore ways to expand your leadership credibility
