Meet the Collaborative Leadership Consultants

Peter DeWitt, Collaborative Leadership, Corwin

Peter DeWitt (Ed.D) is a former K-5 teacher (11 years) and principal (8 years). He leads workshops and provides keynotes nationally and internationally focusing on collaborative leadership and fostering inclusive school climates. His work has been adopted at both the state and university level, and he works with numerous school districts and school boards as a school leadership coach.

Additionally, Peter is a Visible Learning Trainer working with John Hattie. He has written with John, and presents with him around North America. Peter worked with Jim Knight as an Instructional Coach before his Collaborative Leadership work took off.

His Finding Common Ground blog (Education Week) has been in circulation since 2011. He is the 2013 School Administrators Association of New York State's (SAANYS) Outstanding Educator of the Year, and the 2015 Education Blogger of the Year (Academy of Education Arts & Sciences), and sits on the panel of experts for NBC Universal's Education Nation.

Jenni Donohoo, Corwin

Jenni Donohoo has been seconded to the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Branch in the Ontario Ministry of Education for the past few years. In this role, she works with system and school leaders in order to support high quality professional learning and improve adolescent literacy. Jenni earned a doctorate in education from the Joint Program at the University of Windsor, Brock and Lakehead in 2010.


Dr. Sonja Hollins-Alexander has been in the field of education for 24 years with 18 of those being in educational leadership at the school, district, and higher education levels. During this time, she has served as a school social worker, teacher, assistant principal, principal, coordinator, director of professional learning, and chief of staff in two Metro Atlanta, GA school districts. She continued her profession beyond K-12 as a senior consultant for professional development firms and independently.


Tommy Thompson, Corwin

Tommy Thompson is principal of New London High School in Connecticut, recognized as one of America’s Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report in 2014 for its dramatic transformation. In December 2015, the Connecticut State Department of Education officially recognized Tommy for “turning around” NLHS, showing gains on every metric currently used to assess school effectiveness. With nearly 20 years of school experience, Tommy prides himself on bridging the gap between theory and practice, putting into practice what he advocates.


Dr. Ken Lein has been an educator for over 30 years. His experience includes thirteen years teaching and nearly twenty as an administrator. He has taught in both urban and suburban settings, in both regular education and special education. He has been a principal in rural, suburban, and urban schools. Other administrative roles include Instructional Leadership Director and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. His doctoral studies were focused on efficacy.


Olivia Amador is a Corwin author/consultant and a certified Fisher & Frey trainer. She has co-authored The Teacher Clarity Playbook with Douglas Fisher & Nancy Frey and travels the country supporting PLC development using this research-based, hands-on guide. Olivia is on a quest through her Corwin role to extend her reach through sharing her experiences as a transformative leader and effective teacher with other practitioners in support of their success with school improvement goals. Her energy and enthusiasm for this work is simply contagious!
