Dr. Torrez is a committed educator with over 30 years of experience as a teacher, campus principal and superintendent. As a classroom teacher he taught Spanish, English as a Second Language, Social Studies and Health.
At the core of Dr. Torrez’s educational philosophy is the belief that all students deserve an exceptional education. Dr. Torrez believes that every student is an individual and all educators have the responsibility to meet each student at their developmental level providing learning opportunities to accommodate all learning styles, abilities and interests.
“I believe that the teaching profession has evolved and that as educators we must embrace our changing roles,” Dr. Torrez says, “To be an educator in today’s society, you must not only be an instructor of content, but it is essential to be a leader, a mentor, a counselor and a champion for relevant meaningful learning.”
He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lubbock Christian University in 1986. He then earned his Master of Education Mid-Management degree from Sul Ross State University in 1995 and his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University in 2011.
Dr. Torrez and his wife, Wresha, have three children: Braden, Max and Klaire.
