Helen Miller is currently holding the position of the autism coordinator in her school district. In this capacity, she encourages research-based programming and provides training and consultation services to the teachers and paraeducators who work with students with autism. For over 20 years, she served many students with communication delays, including those with autism.
Karen Dreiblatt, cofounder of Balance Educational Services, LLC, has devoted her adult life to bettering the lives of children. Using her background in psychology, Dreiblatt has worked with middle school students in special education, founded a play-based preschool, and has worked in the nonprofit sector to provide healthy recreation options for children of all ages.
Carolyn Landel received her doctoral degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Chicago and pursued postdoctoral studies at University of Massachusetts Medical School and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. While maintaining an active research program, Landel brought together her strong scientific training and her commitment to education by supporting state and national science education reform efforts.
Kenneth A. Kiewra is an expert on learning strategies, homework, and study methods. A professor of educational psycholgy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he presents regulary at AERA and other national confereces, in addition to working with local schools.
