Accelerating student growth and achievement within the context of post-COVID teaching and learning demands that we leverage our expertise as educators to make decisions each day about what content, ideas, and skills we want our students to know, understand, and be able to do. We make decisions about how much time to spend on specific topics and how frequently to engage learners in that topic. We assess learners’ progress through high-quality assessments and decide when to intervene, on what, and at what level of intensity with each evidence-based activity. 

How do educators and teacher teams develop collective teacher efficacy? In this institute, participants will learn about collective efficacy and how to systematically cultivate it their schools. Participants will be guided through each component of a Collective Efficacy Cycle and will engage in a mini cycle during the institute. Participants will walk away feeling energized and empowered to lead a Collective Efficacy Cycle at their sites.

Restorative practices are an alternative to punitive approaches to classroom management. These practices humanize the schooling experience and allow individuals who cause harm to make amends.  Restorative practices rely on strong relationships as well as clear systems and procedures to ensure that harm is addressed. The impact is increased equity for BIPOC students as well as a reduction in exclusionary practices such as suspension and expulsion. But as importantly, students change their behavior as they come to understand the impact that it has.  

Over the past twenty years, the science of learning has provided many insights into how learning works. Credible leaders know where they are going. They have a vision, shared with various members of the school community, that includes plans and steps for getting there. They exude the sense of a positive future, even if they do not establish all the goals and metrics for success.  This session focuses on increasing leader credibility such that ideas become actions. This institute will focus on 5 characteristics that determine a leader's credibility in eyes of those they lead including trust, competence, dynamism, immediacy, and forward-thinking.

This two-day certification is designed to equip you with the knowledge and techniques that will enable you deliver effective Success Criteria Playbook trainings in your school system. Must be employed by a School System, County Office of Education or Education Service Agency to participate.
